how many years passed between guaranteeing African American men the right to vote and granting woman suffrage?
please tell me!
Black men were given the right to vote in 1865 at the end of the Civil War. However the law wasn’t enforced. Black men were kept from voting usually. But that changed in 1965 when President Johnson signed the Voters Right Act.
Women have been allowed to vote since 1920.

Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/
You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant — this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant
Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.pdf at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for women of your age
Aside from FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and Pell Grant http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/index.html , you may want to explore private foundation grants
Also check out Fastweb http://www.fastweb.com
For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center’s Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It’s a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for “students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices.” You may be able to find grants from private foundations.
scholarships@ a black college?Minority?
So my english teacher got a scholarship for being a minority at a black college, and i was wondering if they still do that. and is a black college really just all black people, or what is the actual deal with them. I’m not racist, I am just really interested in it.
No, there is no such thing as a “black college” these days. There are Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and as you might imagine, they often tend to have a very different ethnic balance than do other schools, but none of them are exclusive.
Academic Scholarships for a sophomore Engineering Student?
I just finished my second year as a mechanical engineering student and am in search of some legit scholarship opportunities.
I do well academically (should be able to meet any academic requirements for scholarships)
I have looked on the sites compiling a bunch of different scholarships and was wondering if there are better alternatives as these seem too corporate and publicized.
Any ideas/experiences offered are greatly appreciated.
Hello how are you? What I suggest that you do is use a scholarship search. A scholarship search allows you to create a profile and receive information for all the scholarships that you are eligible to apply for based on your profile description. Scholarshipsupport.com actually has 2 free scholarship searches available right now. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
Can you get boarding school tuition fully paid for from financial aid and Merit Scholarships?
Don’t be mean, now. Just answer the question without personal opinions.
Can you get your FULL tuition FULLY PAID FOR BY FINANCIAL AID AND MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS?
Like if they give you money, can they give you some that would fully cover your tuition?
(I have no other idea of how to word that, so whatever.)
scholarships.onlinewebshop.net – it has detailed info how to apply for financial aid and scholarships to get more cash.
Can I get a green card while Im a student in USA but I applied for the lottery when I was in my country?!!?
If Im a student in some USA university and I applied for DV lottery in my native country and I go to USA to study and then win the lottery, can I get my green card in USA without coming back to Morocco?
My answer to your hypothetical question is that you may have to return to your country to get the visa. This is because the visa will be issued by the US embassy in your country. I don’t know of any instance where the winner of a DV is already in the US. You may be the first if ever. Tell us in YA if ever that happens. That will be a first.**
What happens if you turn down work-study (as in the college grant)?
I got the work study grant but before it came through, I got a job outside the University. So I was wondering, If the work study grant finally comes through and I’m offered a job by the school, and I turn it down because I love my current job, will the grant(the money offered with it) get withdrawn from my account? And if it does get withdrawn from my account, will I owe the school that money?
If you were offered work-study money through FAFSA, then nothing will happen. That money would only be given to you after you are hired for a job and start working.
what kind of grants and scholarships are available for single mother?
Since you are a single mother, you will qualify as an independent student on the FAFSA form based on your income and savings. Depending on a formula, you could qualify for the Pell Grant, need based college scholarships, work study program, and student loans. You could also search for outside college scholarships via a free membership college scholarship search website. I will include some free resources below.
